Game of Thrones-Last Season-April 14th on HBO

When the series Games of Thrones premiered on HBO in April 2011 I was not yet a fan.  My nephew and brother kept finding opportunities to use some of the quotes from the show like “My Grace” and “Winter is Coming.”  After the first season made it to DVD my son watched it.  He told me he thought I would enjoy it.

I think I gave the first episode a try at some point but got confused by all the last names, Targaryen, Lannister, Stark, and Snow. I was not hooked immediately and my mind was not open to the story-line.

A cold wintry day in 2017 my husband and I decided to stay in and watch TV. I am not sure how we chose the series but we did. We watched the first episode and were intrigued. We kept watching, I still had a little bit of trouble keeping the last names straight on who belonged to which family,  but was really liking it! The writing was brilliant, the actors were some of the best I have seen, the scenery was spectacular, I loved the opening music and Jon Snow was so hot. We finished season 6. We looked at each other like “Now what do we do?” We had a few months to wait until season 7 premiered on HBO on July 16, 2017.  We were hooked like everyone else. Why had it taken me so long?

Jon Snow you know nothing!

The last season (season 8) will premiere on April 14, 2019.  Even as I write “last” I feel so sad. I will miss Jon, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Jaime, Brienne of Tarth, The Hound, Daenery and even that mean old Cersei.

The final Game of Thrones battle took 55 nights to film.  The Battle of Winterfell will be the biggest, longest battle ever seen in a movie or TV show.  The director, Miguel Sapochnik, is the same person who directed “Hardhome” and the “Battle of the Bastards.”

I have all kinds of questions going thru my head? Is Daenery pregnant? Will Cersei survive the battle and have another son?  Will Sam discover the secret to killing the Night’s King and White Walkers? Who will be left after the battle is over?

Will Lord Varys have to pick up a sword?

Will these two find love? or does Brienne favor The Hound?

We will find out all the details beginning on April 14th.

I read there will be a prequel on HBO in 2020. It will be set thousands of years before Game of Thrones.

If you have not seen Game of Thrones

(Link above) Check it out on Amazon –Season 1-7 -DVD set.  It is also available on Blu-ray

I would love to hear from Game of Throne fans.

We have not watched Breaking Bad.  I think we are the only two left who have not seen it. Maybe we should give it a try.

March 24th update

My nephew who is the guru of Game of Thrones did not go with my predictions.  After hearing what he had to say I know he is right.

(1) Cersei will most likely not have another child.  As a child, the witch or fortune teller (whatever you call her) predicted only 3 children.

(2) Brienne loves Jaime. On the last episode, Jaime rides away.  There is a chance they will get together. I think Jaime loves her as well and with his sister/lover out of the way that might be able to love each other.

(3) My nephew also thinks Lord Varys is a Targaryen. He shaves his head to hide his hair color.
